Motorcycle tour Karakorum Loop

This is a self-drive motorcycle tour through the vastness of the Mongolian steppe, which will take you to Karakorum and central Mongolia. You should manage the motorcycle tour in at least three days. Better is about six days, then you have some time at the different places and you can also swim in the Ogii Nuur lake, or rent a horse. You start in Ulaanbaatar in the morning. The length of the individual stages you can arrange yourself, as long as you also organize the overnight stays yourself. Otherwise you will get a list with your accommodations from us. The route is half asphalt road and half dirt road.
Steppenfuchs Reisen will provide you with the necessary camping equipment, if you do not have your own. Gasoline and food will be provided on the way.
On the way you will pass many interesting points, which you can also visit. Take your time for it. It is a different life, a different culture that you are immersed in now and therefore you need the time to understand it.
Hustain Nuruu: Here is one of the reserves where the Prizkiwalzkie horses are separated out again. The reserve is a bit off the road (about 8 KM). You can drive into the reserve and see the wild horses.
Tuul River: Here you cross the Tuulriver.
Khogno Khan: Visit the ancient Erdene Hamp Monastery in the picturesque Hognon Han Mountains. The monastery is one of the smallest monasteries in Mongolia. Only a few monks live here. The monastery reflects the attachment of the nomads to Buddhism. A small footpath then leads us higher up the mountain. Here we can then visit the remains of the former monastery (UVGUN Khiid), which was much larger.
Karakorum: Ok Karakorum is now with the biggest point on the tour. There are several things to see here. Once the monastery itself. Built in 1586, then destroyed, rebuilt and so on. It was only in the 90’s that it got the face it has today. Before the monastery was built, Karakorum was also the capital of the Mongol Empire. Last but not least, the new museum, which summarizes all the two places again and gives you a good overview of the situation.
Khushuu tsaidam: Here the Turks are digging very actively and have put together a small exhibition of the finds they have made here.
Ugii nuur: A beautiful lake, invites you to swim. Here you can let your soul dangle. You are bathing, or you are on a horseback
Dashinchilen: Remains of an old fortification from the Kitan period.
Where you will spend the night, you decide yourself. We can only give you recommendations. The best places are Khogon Khan, Karakorum and Ogii Nuur. But you can also stay somewhere else, where you like it.
About gasoline, you don’t really have to worry. You can get it almost everywhere. Only on the route from Karakorum to Dashinchilen, you have to be careful, because there is no gasoline secured on this part of the route. That is about 130 KM. So fill up before and drive on this part of the route a little more carefully.
