A short tour, which you can extend as you like, to Terelch, the Mongolian Switzerland. You can do this tour in three days and you can extend it according to your time frame. On the way to Terelch and in Terelch you can see and experience a lot. You can organize the overnight stay yourself, whether in a tent, with a nomadic family or in a yurt camp, you have to decide yourself. Motorcycle Tour Karakorum Loop

This is a self-drive motorcycle tour that takes you to Karakoram and central Mongolia. You should manage the motorcycle tour in at least three days. Better is about six days, then you have some time at the different places and can also swim in the Ogii Nuur lake, or rent a horse. You start in Ulaanbaatar in the morning. The length of the individual stages you can arrange yourself, as long as you also organize the overnight stays yourself. Otherwise you will get a list with your accommodations from us. The route is half asphalt road and half dirt road. It leads to central Mongolia with Karakorum, the former capital of Chingges Khan, and to Lake Oggi Nuur. On the way you will be able to experience the vastness of the Mongolian steppe.
Steppenfuchs Reisen will provide you with the necessary camping equipment, if you do not have your own. Gasoline and food will be provided on the way.

Our sidecar tour on the historical looking URAL sidecars through the unique landscape of Mongolia runs in the heart of Central Asia. The landscape is characterized by the steppe landscape of Mongolia. This is where the legendary empire of Chingges Khan, who created the largest land nation on earth, was founded. The lush flora in untouched nature and the encounters with the nomads will fascinate us every day.

We start in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of modern Mongolia and drive west to the ancient and former capital of Chingges Khan. The road winds through the endless expanse of the Mongolian steppe and the rattling of the cylinders of our "aged Ural" is equal to the drumming of the hooves of Chingges Khans’s equestrian arms that once roamed the country.

Ulaanbaatar with the sidecar

Experience Ulaanbaatar nostalgically. A city tour with a historical Ural coach. We will pick you up from your hotel / guesthouse and show you Ulaanbaatar extensively. The city tour will be guided by one of our good German speaking (English optional) guides and you will have a vehicle at your disposal for the whole time. For the whole tour you have different options, for example with lunch and in the evening with a folklore program by the Tumen Ekh Dance Ensemble. The world famous folklore group from Ulaanbaatar.

1. Tag	Morning	You will be picked up from your hotel at 9:00 and we will leave Ulaanbaatar heading west. Right after leaving the city, the Mongolian steppe welcomes us. We will stop, according to old Mongolian custom, at a large Ovoo to bid to the earth spirits for a good trip. Ovoos are ubiquitous in Mongolia and firmly rooted in Mongolian beliefs.
	Noon	Lunch break in the Mongolian steppe landscape.
	Afternoon	The journey continues in the direction of Karakorum. We will make a first major stop at the large sand dune of Elsen Tasarkhai. The dunes of Elsen Tasarkhai are fossil dunes, which were formed by the sand transport from the Gobi. The dunes are interesting for those who want to get an impression of the Gobi Desert, but want to save themselves the many kilometers of driving there. Overnight stay in the mountains of Hognon Khan

2. Tag	Morning	In the morning we drive the remaining kilometers to Karakorum. Then we start exploring Karakorum. First, the former capital We start with Erdene Zuu Monastery. Erdene Zuu, the oldest monastery in Mongolia, was founded in 1586. At that time Buddhism gained importance in Mongolia. Statues such as those of the deity Gombogur were brought to the country and can still be seen at Erdene Zuu. The complex consists of several temples and a complex of buildings that were gradually built. In the heyday of the monastery, over 1000 monks lived there. Over the centuries, the monastery was destroyed, rebuilt and modified several times. Manchurian conquerors repeatedly destroyed Erdene Zuu and the city of Karakorum. At the beginning of the 19th century, the walls of Erdene Zuu finally housed 62 temples and further development was slower. Meanwhile, there were monasteries and temples all over the country, yet Erdene Zuu has remained an important pilgrimage site to this day. From the monastery Erdene Zuu it is only a few meters to the excavation sites of the old capital Karakorum. Unfortunately, not much is left of the city and after we have a small overview of the situation, we drive to the newly built museum, where the findings of the excavation are displayed. Here we have the opportunity to inform ourselves in detail about Karakorum.
	Noon	The Orkhon Valley has always been a cultural melting pot. Even before Chingges Kahn built his capital here, different peoples settled in the fertile valley. Many traces have not been preserved, but about 60 KM north of Karakorum is the tomb of Khoshoo Tsaidam. It is the tomb of the Turk King Bilge Khan and his brother Kulitegin. Both of them were generals. Today they would be called "warlords" because they joined different peoples in this region. The most famous are the two "stelae", on which are carved in two languages, the deeds of the two commanders. Here was also excavated one of the four stone turtles, a sign of long life and eternity. The stone turtles have a particularly important meaning in Mongolian mythology. For the Turkic peoples, and thus ultimately for Turkey, Khoshoo Tsaidam is of special significance
	Afternoon	In the late afternoon we will reach the lake Ogii Nuur. Here we have time to relax in the unique landscape. The lake invites to a short hike along its shore. Near our place for the night, there is a small bird watching station, because the Ogii Nuur is also an important resting place for many migratory birds.

3. Tag	Morning	With a magnificent view over the Ogii nuur, we start the third day of our little trip. We can observe cranes and many other birds. In the morning we drive back to Ulaanbaatar. In the morning we pass a ruin complex from the Kitan time. The Kitan belong to the Proto-Mongols or Proto-Mongolids and this is the name given to those peoples who inhabited the Central Asian steppes in the first centuries AD. Chr. inhabited the Central Asian steppes. They were mainly peoples with Turkic, Mongolian and Tungus languages, but they were very similar in culture and way of life. The ruins of Char Buch Balgas are attributed to the 9th-10th centuries. It is said to be a fortification.

	Afternoon	The drive will take us via the village of Lun to Ulaanbaatar, where we will arrive in the late afternoon.

09:00 am	We meet at your hotel
Morning	Drive, or walk to the Gandan Monastery. Gandan Monastery (Гандантэгчинлэн хийд, Gandantegtschinlen Chiid) is the most important monastery in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. It is located on a hill west of the city center. Gandan can be translated as "island of perfect tranquility". The foundation of the monastery dates back to 1727. The monastery was closed in 1937, but after the communist rulers realized that there must be a religious "outlet", reopened in 1944 in parts. The Gandan Monastery was the only monastery during the Communist period where Buddhist ceremonies were allowed. However, under strong control of de3r Mongolian secret police. The most striking building in the monastery complex is the white Migjid Janraisig Süm. In the building there is the 6 mtr. high statue of the goddess Janraisig. The original of the statue was dismantled by Russian troops in 1938 and allegedly melted down. After the change, the Buddhist community had a copy of the great statue built with donations worth about 5 million USD. The largest Buddhist university outside Tibet is also located on the monastery grounds.
At noon	We continue walking / driving to the Natural History Museum. The Natural History Museum is the largest and most famous museum in Ulaanbaatar. It is known far beyond the country’s borders, because of its unique dinosaur collection. Impressive are the two completely preserved dinosaur skeletons, which were found in the Gobi. There is also the finding of two fighting pterosaurs in the collection. The collection was started by the Academy of Sciences in 1924 and the current museum moved into the building in 1954. Besides the dinosaur exhibition, there is also an impressive collection of weapons from the time of Chinggers Khan and many exhibits from the world of fauna and flora. A separate room is dedicated to the space findings (meteorites) and the cosmonaut suit of the first Mongol to go into space. From the Natural History Museum, it is only a few steps to Suhkbaatar Square in the center of the city. The square shines in a new look, in the center there is the statue of Suhkbaataar, the founder of modern Mongolia. On the south side of the parliament building, at the northern end of the square, is the large monument to Chingges Khan. Here it is now time to learn a little more about modern Mongolia.

Afternoon	Visiting the monastery of the Choijin – Lama. The monastery museum was built between 1904 and 1908 for Choijin Lama Luvsankhaidav, the bearer of the state oracle and young brother of Bogd Gegeen VIII. The museum is one of the most beautiful in Mongolia from the beginning of the 20th century. Until 1938 religious services were held in the monastery, since 1942 it has been a museum The monastery building complex consists of five temples, where unique works of Central Asian craftsmen from the 17th-19th centuries are exhibited. The exhibits are kept in the temple-museums of the architectural ensemble of the last Khan, leaving everything as it was then in the "Temple of Mercy". Abundant and varied Buddhist art, works of art of Mongolian masters, costumes and masks for the religious Zam ceremony, musical instruments, are exhibited here.Visit to the Bogd Khan Palace. This palace in Ulaanbaatar served as the residence of the last emperor of Mongolia, the eighth Bogd-Khan, His Holiness Dshebsundumba VII. The Winter Palace was based on the construction plans given to the Mongol Bogd-Khan by the Russian Tsar Nicholas the 2nd. By the standards of that time, the last king lived in a very large building, although it had only two floors. In the old palace you will get a good overview of the living conditions in Mongolia at that time. In the winter palace there are the objects that belonged to the Bogd Khan, the unique hunting trophies donated by the rulers of different countries, the cult objects of Tibetan Buddhism created by the ancient craftsmen, such as sculptures, icons and Buddhist tankas (fabric paintings).On the palace grounds there is the unique drum enclosure with the big drum hanging between the six pillars directly under the roof of the pavilion. Another highlight is the "Dou-Gun" building with the four-story roof, richly decorated with picturesque ornaments and green stucco roof tiles. In front of the "Hallowed Gate" of the Bogd-Khan Palace, the wooden "Triumph Gate" was erected, which is a symbol of liberation and gaining independence from China ( Nadchirian China). The gate was built without the use of nails.
Afternoon	From the Bogd Khan Palace it is not far to the Zaisan viewpoint. The Zsaisan Memorial is located in the south of the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar and is meant to commemorate the Soviet soldiers who died in World War II. The memorial, built by Russians, is located on a hill. In a circular building, various murals depict scenes of friendship between the peoples of the USSR and Mongolia, such as Soviet support for Mongolia’s independence in 1921, the defeat of the Japanese Kwantung Army at the Chalcha River on the Mongolian border in 1939, victory over Nazi Germany, and peacetime achievements such as Russian space travel. From the monument you have a very nice overview of the city.
Evening	From the view hill, it is only a short walk back to the city and we arrive in time at the Tumen Ekh Dance Ensemble. You will hear folklore with Mongolian musical instruments and the famous throat singing. Mongolian "snake girls" will perform and you will see classical folk dance. The ensemble has existed since 1945 and it includes up to 200 different artists. The quality of the performance is very high, so tickets should be purchased beforehand and not at the box office.
