Very beautifully located lake, very rich in fish. Excursions to Karakorum and Khöshöö-Tsaidam are possible. Karakorum, the former capital of the Mongol Empire with its monastery Erdene Zuu is definitely worth a trip. Here you can see the great past of the Mongols in the new museum. To Karakorum it might be a bit far by horse. Khöshöö-Tsaidam, on the other hand, is rather unknown, but well worth a day trip. Here you can find the oldest traces of the present Turkey and for this reason the former palace of a Turkish commander is also looked after from Turkey. Khöshöö-Tsaidam can be easily reached by horse from Ogii Nuur.

Khögno-Tarna National Park (better known as Khögno Khan) is located 250 kilometers (155 miles) from Ulan Bator, on the road to Karakorum. This park covers an area of 47000 hectares and is home to numerous historical monuments, forests of silver birch and poplar trees, and springs. The ecosystem of this park is particularly interesting because here steppe and taiga meet. Thus, we can find fauna and flora characteristic of these two ecosystems, and also some beautiful landscapes with the granite formations of Khögno Khan. Created in 1997 as a nature reserve, in 2003 it became a nature park, i.e. an area protected by the state for its educational, historical, cultural or ecological value.

Not far or almost merging, with the khognon Khan mountains, the Elsen tasarkhai sand dunes are located and is a part of the Mongolian Els sand dunes, which stretch along the provinces of Tuv, Uvurkhangai and Bulgan. The sand dunes are 80 km long in total. Khugnu Tarna shares the southern part of the sand dunes with the so-called northern Mongolian sand and is a fossil dune, i.e. it is no longer moved by the wind and is slowly becoming covered with vegetation.

A hot (warm) spring in the northern Archangai Mountains. Great forested mountain landscape with valleys and wooded ridges. A great contrast to the otherwise predominant Mongolian steppe landscape. Possibilities for horseback riding, adventure hiking or just relaxing at the hot springs. The presence of these hot springs is due to the violent volcanic activity in Archangai Mountains. Tsenkher hot springs have healing properties, especially for joint diseases and diseases of the nervous system. Composition: sodium carbonate, hydrocarbonate, sulfate, fluorite, hydrogen sulfide. Try the warm springs even at night. It is a fantastic experience to sit in the warm water in the middle of the night and watch the stars in the night sky.

This picturesque freshwater lake, located on the northern edge of Khorgo-Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur National Park, is about 16 km long from east to west and about 4 to 6 km wide from north to south. The lake is a small jewel in the landscape of the Archangai Mountains. The walk from Tariat to the northeast corner of the lake (6 km) takes about two hours and passes through a unique volcanic and lava landscape. The region is perfect for camping or living with nomads.

One of the many legends surrounding the lake is that an elderly couple forgot to plug a well after drawing water. The valley was then flooded until a local hero shot his arrow at a nearby mountain peak; the shorn peak covered the well and became an island in the lake (Noriin Dund Tolgoi). Another and more plausible theory is that it was formed by lava flows from a volcanic eruption many millennia ago.

Tuvkhun Monastery was founded in 1653 by Zanabazar, who lived and worked here for 30 years. He is said to have chosen the place on his 19th birthday. When it was expanded in the 18th century at the instigation of the head lama of Erdene Zuu Monastery, the construction of the stupa, which still exists today, took place at the same time. The monastery included two sacred trees: Mahakala and Tara. In 1937, Töwchön Chiid was destroyed during the Stalinist terror in Mongolia. The reopening of the monastery took place in 1993, in the same year the reconstruction began. The monastery is beautifully situated in the mountains of the Archangai range- Our nomads, with whom you can live, do not live in the monastery, of course, but nearby. Here you can make an excursion to the hermitage, ride horses in the Archangai Mountains, or help in the daily life of the nomads.

Orkhon waterfall is one of the most important sights in Mongolia. The waterfall is located in a historically significant valley. The Orkhon River flows for 1120 km and many kilometers later flows into the Selenge River. This waterfall, also known as Ulaan Tsutgalan, was uniquely formed by volcanic eruption and earthquake 20,000 years ago. After a heavy rain, the waterfall looks impressive. The area is ideal for fishing, horse riding, cycling and photography. The Orchon Valley Cultural Landscape has been protected as a national park since 2006. The region is particularly suitable for extensive hiking in the Orkhon Valley.

The monolith is located 22 km from the city of Tsetserleg on the bank of the river Khoid Tamir and is a 18 m high rock made of granite. This rock was formed by the separation from the river bank due to millions of years of the Khoid Tamir River flowing through a granite cape on its northern bank. Over 150 inscriptions in various scripts, including Turkic, Uyghur, Mongolian, Tibetan, Manchurian, and Chinese, have been engraved on the rock, but most of them appear to have been severely weathered over time. About 70 of them are in Mongolian script and the name of a Mongolian state official from the 15th to 17th centuries such as Khuukhai Dayu of Oirad, Tsogt Huntaij of Kalkh can be read. Another inscription is about the decree of Enkh-Amgalan, a king of Daichin state, brought by Ravdan. Those who engraved Chuluu in the Taikhar are expected to engrave their names and provinces. This tradition is still practiced today, but it makes old inscriptions disappear in a way.

The myth: On the way to the Zag Baidrag River was a wide valley after climbing over the Khangai Mountains. It is believed that a giant snake crossed the valley via three open gorges of Eg Pass, moved along the Khangai mountain range until it reached the site of present-day Taikhar Chuluu and then fell into a hole under the cliff. After that, a well-known local wrestler knowingly plugged the hole with a massive cliff, which is now known as Taikhar Chuluu.
