1.000 Camel Festival

1.000 Camel Festival

Tour 411

The two-humped camel still plays an important role in the life of the nomads in the Gobi. What could be more natural than to organize a festival around this two-humped cloven-hoofed camel. Every year in March, since 1997, more than 1,000 camels meet in the South Gobi, near Dalandzagad, for what is probably a unique festival. The origin of the festival was to protect the camel population and to promote the exchange of information among breeders. This has now become one of the largest festivals in the South Gobi. The camel festival is not just a tourist event. It is one of the biggest festivals and celebrations that the desert nomads of the Gobi prepare and eagerly await……..

Combine the Ice Festival at Lake Khovsguul and the 1,000 Camle Festival in the Gobi for a 14-day event with the nomads of Mongolia in the north and south at a special price.
